Wax On is a Hip Hop, Funk Soul & Disco, and producer, DJ currently based in Derby, UK. Originally from Wakefield, when Wax On made the move to Derby to study Music Technology, he bought a turntable and mixer and learned to scratch to enhance his productions. Having a background in music from starting with the cornet, through guitar, bass & drums, he took to scratching like a fish to water, and it wasn't long before the purchase of a pair of technics. Exposure to funk and breaks tapes like BrainFreeze and Rare Equations, along with hip hop from Blackalicious, J5, Wu-Tang, Beasties and more, shaped Wax On's initial style and selection, and this progressed and evolved into Disco, Jazz Funk and much more.
Wax On has had residencies at Ill Behaviour and Homegrown in Derby, Stealth in Nottingham, and Rapture in Loughbrough, but is currently working on more studio mixes and productions. For info on any gigs, please check the myspace/facebook pages.
